1173. Tour the Cerreta Candy Company in Glendale

When I was planning our initial spring training trip 2 years ago, I was looking for things to do in the morning before going to the ballpark. Cerreta Candy Company was on a Pinterest list or something and I decided it would be kind of fun. Besides the hubby would probably enjoy it. Sometimes trip planning is difficult with his interests or lack thereof.

We never made to Cerreta in 2018 and I stumbled across the same list somewhere and put it on the agenda again this year. Cerreta Candy Company is a family owned candy company that has been around for over 50 years.

Tours are $5 a person and includes a $2.50 coupon off your chocolate purchase plus you get 4 samples. The tours is nothing fancy. The plant isn't very big. The actual chocolate is made out in San Francisco and shipped in 10 lb blocks to the store. Our tour also included a school group. An employee talks about the history of Cerreta's and how they make their chocolate.

Then you get to walk through the processing area and pick up your samples.

At the end, the employee talks a little more about the chocolate and passes out some of the 10 lb bars of chocolate to hold and pose for a picture with.

There is also a candy bar making or chocolate pizza option to the tour for an extra fee. Obviously we didn't opt for that.

We ended up buying a variety of chocolates to samples. They are famous for the chocolate mints. Everything is self serve and wrapped in the same cellophane wrapper. Try to distinguish your candies when you get home. They also have spicy candy bars and some taffy. I kind of wish I got taffy.

The hubby likes Oak's in Oshkosh better. I wished they had more variety. I think we are spoiled by Oaks. I would definitely stop and get some Cerreta's again.
