Eating Local in Mansfield

After we left the Ohio State Reformatory, we needed to stop for lunch before heading to South Bend. Since the Escape has built in navigation, we used the restaurant feature to find a place to eat. There was a hamburger stand that was nearby. However when we get into Mansfield, we couldn’t find the hamburger stand and ended up at Porky’s.  Based on the outside of the restaurant, we weren’t 100% if Porky’s was a restaurant or a bar. Google informed me it was a restaurant.

When we walked in, I was amazed to find such a small place. It was smaller than Mimh’s. There were about 6 stools around a horseshoe counter and maybe 3 booths on each side.  A couple of older gentlemen were sitting at the counter shooting the breeze. We took a booth.

The menu was not limited to just burgers. There were other sandwiches, hot dogs, and even dinners. They even had milk shakes. We both had burgers, fries, and butterscotch milk shakes. I had curly fries and the hubby had regular fries. Mine were frozen and his were fresh. When our order came out, our waitress asked us if we wanted vinegar. My initial reaction was I’m not in England. Apparently Ohioans liked vinegar with their fries too. I prefer ketchup. I probably should have gone with the fresh cut fries because they looked really good. My curly fries were fine but the fresh cut ones were just better.

It was little pricey for lunch but not any more expensive than going to Cinders or Mimh’s. It was really only slightly more than if we went to McDonald’s or other fast food place. The food, however, was much better than fast food.

If we are ever back in the Mansfield area, Porky’s would be on the list of possible places to eat. However, knowing how we travel, we probably would try to find some place new since we already know that Porky’s is good and if we can’t find any place, we would go back to Porky’s.
