Dining With Craxi: Vagabond Milwaukee

After our day in Lake Geneva, Stacy and I needed to find dinner and some place relatively inexpensive. As we were eating our ice cream, I decided I want Mexican. Milwaukee always has better Mexican than Appleton. Stacy said Vagabond or El Sarape. I said I wasn’t picky. Vagabond was more funky while El Sarape was more traditional. I decided El Sarape would be better but after looking at the websites, Stacy decided we should go to Vagabond. Who was I to argue, I’ve never been to either place.

Vagabond turned out to be a great choice. It was a lot less traditional than I wanted and the options were way out of my comfort zone but the food was good. You can’t just get beef or chicken tacos. The options were a lot more complex than that.

I ended up with a brisket taco and a mahi mahi taco. Both were very good. The Mahi Mahi was a bit spicy for me and I ended up taking off half of the slaw. Stacy said that if that was too spicy, I should take off the stuff off the brisket one too.

The décor inside was unique. The bar was an airstream trailer. It was very art deco but it fit the place. I can’t really describe it besides to say it was cool so I took some pictures.

My bill with a margarita came to less than what I paid for my burger in Lake Geneva. I would definitely go back. I’m not sure if the hubby would find anything he liked but it is a definitely a place to try if you like Mexican.

After we left Vagabond, Stacy took me past the old Pabst Brewery and showed me what they were doing with the property. It looks much better than what is was before. I would love to take the tour one day. Dinner was a great way to end a great day.
