26 in 2026: Try One New Pizza Place -- Copper State Brewing Company

 The hubby saw a commercial for a pizza place one night. He said the pizza looked good and we needed to try it but he couldn't remember the name of it. He thought it was Copper Rock and I'm like that's a coffee shop. I thought he meant Vault 202 -- the brewery and pizza place next door. Nope it was Copper State Brewing Company. 

Copper State Brewing Company is open 6:30-10:00 Mon-Fri and 7-10 on Saturdays. They are closed on Sundays. It is located in downtown Green Bay over by the Neville Museum. There is plenty of parking.

Just like Cool City Brewing in Two Rivers, Copper State features coffee and beer (hence the early hours). Since I needed to cross of a brewery in Brown County, I opted for a flight. They had enough sours on the menu to do a whole flight of sours. You can do a flight of 4 or 6 beers. Since I was only one drinking them, I went with 4. 

Since they were out of one of my choices, I went with 

Bougie Blue -- I was pleasantly surprised by this one. I wasn't sure I was going to like it since it was blueberry but it was actually quite good.

Sugar Plum Elderberry Tart -- This one wasn't bad. Not as good as the Bougie Blue but still a decent sour. 

Pomegranate Pucker -- I am not a huge fan of pomegranate so it's not surprising I wasn't a huge fan of this one. 

Star Studded Pucker -- This was my least favorite and the one I was looking to try the most. It had a weird spice mix to it that didn't go well with the rest of the flavors. I think the vanilla came on too strong. 

We also obviously got pizza. It is wood fired pizza. We went with sausage. 

The pizza was very good. The hubby didn't like the fresh parmesan on it even though we had it at Cesario's in Georgia. I thought it added a depth to the pizza. 

We would definitely come back for pizza again. We would go early before they get busy to enjoy the quietness like we did this time.

7641. Have a Spotted Cow

 After the hubby finished his conference and he found me, he asked where the pub was at the Kalahari Resort. I was like I didn't see it but we can go find it. He needed to meet up with colleague.

When we got to Wisconsin Brew Pub, we grabbed seats at the bar where the hubby could meet with his colleague. The hubby looks at me and said "You've been having adventures all day, have another one" meaning have a drink. 

I looked at the beer taps in front of me and saw one that caught me eye until I learned it was an IPA. I am not an IPA fan. Then I saw Spotted Cow by New Glarus Brewing Company. All their beers are only available in Wisconsin. Not one to drink beer regularly, I wanted to try their flag ship beer. I asked a glass of Spotted Cow.

Some how it took me 20+ years to try Spotted Cow and I am not sure why. Stacy thinks I had it once before but I don't remember it. It might have been the time we tried to party on Water Street in Milwaukee. 

Spotted Cow is a farmhouse style ale. It is on the sweeter side. It is the perfect beer for me when I can't get a sour or a shandy. 

As I was sipping my beer and watch whatever game is on the TV, I realized there was another set of taps I missed and realized there was more beers that I might have been able to try. They apparently had many beers on tap based on the board I saw as we left. 

I still think I picked the right beer. Spotted Cow has become my go to beer when there is nothing else I like is available. If you have not tried Spotted Cow, especially if you are not a beer fan, you better add it to your bucket list. You will thank me.. maybe

25 in 2025 -- Visit at Least One New Winery or Brewery -- Eagle Park Brewing Company

Since we wee heading to the Chicago Suburbs for girls weekend, I spent the night at Stacy's. We decided to grab dinner at Eagle Park Brewing Company in Muskego which is near their house. I was excited since I got to color Waukesha County on my map of Counties I Visited a Brewery In. Stacy is a very willing participate in this endeavor.

Eagle Park Brewing Company started in Milwaukee and has branched out to Muskego. It is has both indoor and outdoor seating. It is open 11-10 every day except Sundays when they close at 9. It is very family friendly and offers a multitude of beverage and food options. Parking can be interesting. 

All the ordering is done by QR Code. I am not a fan of QR Code menus but I survived my first experience. I really do prefer old school ordering but the QR Code menu does make it easier for everyone (except dinosaurs like me).

Eagle Park not only features beers but also a variety of Seltzers and Vodka Sodas. As tempting as those were, I was at a brewing company therefor by (my) rule, I should have a beer. They actually had a decent number of sour beers. I went with Tiki Dave's Blue Hawaiian.

After I realized I ordered 2 entrees and no beer, I headed up to the bar to fix my problem. The nice bartender, cancelled my ordered and placed it correctly. Then he went to get my beer as he hands me my beer, Stacy comes up and says they just delivered one to the table. The guy is like now you have 2 and hands me a very green beer. 

Tiki Dave's Blue Hawaiian was interesting to say the least. It is a sour ale with pineapple, orange, toasted coconut, and blue spirulina. It was heavy on the pineapple (not my favorite) and then the coconut hits you at the end. It was very weird tasting beer. I think the fruit punch one might have been better. I drank one of the two and Stacy and Jeremy split the other. Jeremy actually enjoyed it. Next time I'll try a Seltzer or something pretty.

For dinner I ordered, Currywurst Poutine. It sounded good on paper. I forgot how much I dislike Currywurst. The fries and cheese curds were good. If I ate around the curry sauce, the sausage was okay. It was not my best decision and it really didn't go with the beer but I ate as much as I could. Next time I'll try a burger. 

I would definitely come go back to Eagle Park Brewing Company. It is a great place to hang out and relax after a long week. The beer and food is good. If you are in Milwaukee or Muskego area definitely go check it out. 

25 in 2025 -- Try at least one new beer, cider, or cocktail -- Drop Top Sundrop

Stacy invited me tag along with them when they went to Nutcracker at the Castle. Before hand we decided to meet for lunch at Mr. Brews Taphouse in Oshkosh. I knew there was one in Appleton but not aware of the one in Oshkosh. 

Mr. Brews features a multitude of beers on tap. Their paper menu is 2 pages. I wasn't sure what to get but I knew what I liked... sours and shandies. They had several of each. Stacy said to get a flight but I was driving. Then I spotted the perfect beer. Drop Top Sundrop. 

I swear they made Drop Top Sundrop just for me. It is a shandy made with Sundrop Soda. It is made by Stubborn Brothers Brewery in Shawano. According to Untappd website it is A Citrus Sour Radler made with two parts beer and one part local soda Sundrop.

It was the first beer that I truly love. It is not your ordinary Shandy. It does not taste like beer at all. Stacy took a sip and said it tasted like soda. I will definitely get this in the future. 

I did at visit Stubborn Bros Brewery in Shawano to the bucket list. I am curious what other beers they have. 

If you are not a beer drinker, this might be the beer for you. It is definitely on the milder side with very little beer taste. Check it out. 

24 in 2024 -- Visit at least one new brewery -- Bare Bone Brewery

 When I was talking to Danielle about this book challenge Brenda Novak is doing, I told her I wanted to do the things WI is famous for -- Beer, Brats, Cheese, and Packers. She said I should go to Bare Bones Brewery in Menasha with her. I always wanted to check it out but not being a big beer drinker and the hubby isn't a beer drinker at all, it is difficult sometimes. 

Bare Bones Brewery in Menasha is actually just a Tap Room. Their main location is in Oshkosh. The tap room is open Wednesday-Sunday. Hours vary by the day of the week. It is located right downtown. There is street parking or the ramp/lot behind the buildings.

Bare Bones has a dozen different beers on tap. There are 3 regulars -- Dog Daze, Amber Ale, and Oshkosh Lager.

Danielle had a buy 1 get 1 free coupon from some Menasha establishment passport otherwise we might have done a flight. I am either a sour or shandy kind of gal. I've started to figure out what I like. We both decided to go with Dillion -- a fruitier beer. That was a great idea until the tap ran out and she didn't have to another. So I randomly picked Bare Bones Switfy's Irish Red. 

I decided I am not a fan of Irish Reds. It tastes too much like beer. I didn't even finish it. If I had more time, I might have nursed it and finished it. However, the quarter of a pint was starting to get to me and I had to drive home. 

Water to the rescue. Good old Menasha Tap Water.

Our lovely bartender did give us the glass of Dillon since it was too much beer to waste. The Dillon was actually very good. I would have finished that pint no problem but I had to drive so I left most of it for Danielle.

Bare Bones is a lovely place to hang out. It has regular bar seating but it also has some couches for more comfortable seating. It is actually the perfect place to hang out on a rainy Sunday afternoon. There were a few TVs with the hockey game as well as the Brewers game on.

There is a small brewing operation in the tap room as well.

I will definitely be back and I might even have to take Stacy the next time she is town. It is definitely worth checking out. 

5261. Go to 3 Sheeps Brewing in Sheboygan

 When Andrea and I were planning our Croffle date, we saw that 3 Sheeps Brewing Company was having their 11th anniversary party the same day. I said we should check it out since I've not been to a brewery in Sheboygan County.

After a bit of shopping and sampling, Andrea asked if we should do Croffles or Beer first since we were literally going to drive right by the brewery. I said croffles as I probably should eat before I drink. 

With our bellies full of croffles, we headed back to 3 Sheeps Brewing. It is located in a neighborhood with limited parking. We ended up parking on a side street and walked a few blocks back to the brewery. 

We both grabbed a beer before sitting outside. It was not a gorgeous day but nice enough to sit out and enjoy a beer. Enjoy might have been a bit strong. Because of my like to sours, I had Flower Sour which was a Sour Ale with Chamomile. Andrea opted to go with a Pineapple Mango Slushie Beer. Neither of us were fans of our choices. Mine was more bitter than  I was used to and Andrea's was just weird.

Even though we have known each other for over 20 years, we realized this was our first time we've had a beer together. We've done a beer run together but never went for a beer to catch up.

Since my beer was not very good, I decided to try to chug it. Yeah, that didn't work very well. I decided I can not chug a beer.. No I don't really care to try again. I just wanted to cross "chug a beer" off the bucket list.

3 Sheeps Brewing Company is perfect spot to hang out. They do have a good selection of beer and plenty of inside and outside seating. Andrea said it was a good spot to social distance during the pandemic. I would go again just to hang out, talk, and I would try the seltzer next time. That seems like a safe choice.

5286. Go to Broken Bat Brewery

 Across the street from the Bobblehead Museum, is Broken Bat Brewery. Jeremy decided he wanted a beer, so we headed inside.

Broken Bat Brewery is a baseball themed craft brewery. They did a have a small collection of bobbleheads in the back corner.

All the beers are baseball themed. We opted to go with two flights. Funny enough after we decided which beers we wanted to sample, it ended up being numbers 9-16. 

My two favorites were the Mango Smoothie Seltzer and Darryl. The Seltzer, technically not a beer, but was probably hands down the best seltzer I ever hand. It didn't have the carbonation factor that other seltzers have. It was smooth and refreshing. 

The Darryl, a nod to Darryl Strawberry, was a Strawberry Kettle Sour beer. I am not much of a fan beer but give me a sour any day. I don't know why but I can tolerate sours a whole lot more than regular beer. Even though it was a strawberry beer, it still had really good flavor. 

At one point, I said one of the beers was too "beery". Stacy said we had to work on my beer vocabulary. What? It tasted too much like regular beer. 

Stacy and I also each had a sample of Kangaroo Court because it just sound interesting. It was a watermelon Kolsch. Again not bad but I liked the seltzer and sour better.

The other really cool thing about Broken Bat Brewery, it is 100% dog friendly. At first I was a little weirded out by this but since no one else found it weird, I just went with the flow. All the dogs were well behave.... for the most part.

This is definitely a nice stop before or after the bobblehead museum if you are into craft beer. It has plenty of TVs to watch the game and plenty of seating to hang out with friends. It was a great choice to relax before having to head back and bake more cookies.

2022 Girls Weekend Alcohol Tour: Reads Landing Brewing Company

 There are several things that I try to search out when planning a girls weekend. One of them being breweries and wineries. I prefer wineries but Stacy likes a good craft beer so they both get hit. This allows to me to try discover new beers and maybe, just maybe find one I like. 

I found Reads Landing Brewing Company from a Facebook Post regarding the Wabasha's Septoberfest and they were offering a beer that was created just for it. I figured it was a good stop for lunch. 

We had about an hour for lunch so we could make it to the Eagle Presentation at 1 pm. It was going to be tough but we let them know we were on a time crunch. We got seated at the bar.

In usual Stacy and Amy fashion, we split a flight of beer. It featured the six beers on tap and was $14. I thought it was a bit pricy but I really don't do beer so I can't really say. 

The beers were Foghorn Hazy IPA, Showboat American Robust Porter, Fallfest German Altbier, Castaway German Kolsch, Karlsbrau Bavarian Hefeweizen, and Outlaw Trail IPA.

We each sampled them all and I know I ones I didn't like (the Porter) and ones that were better than others. I know I liked the Hazy IPA but can't remember which other ones that I could tolerate. I really like flights because then I don't have to attempt to drink an entire beer. These small pours are perfect for me.

I went with Currywurst for lunch and Stacy had a smothered Rib-Eye Sandwich. I don't normally see Currywurst on a menu and went with the traditional German sausage to go with my German beer. It was really good example that the Curry Ketchup got all over everything. I was a sticky mess by the time I was done. Stacy's sandwich looked good too.

I definitely would recommend Reads Landing Brewing Company both for its beer and food. It is a not a huge place but the beer and food are great. The water views don't hurt either. 

5034. Do the Door County Wine Trolley Tour

 My cousins always go to Door County every August and depending on my work schedule, I try to meet them up there for a day. Since they like to do wine and alcohol tastings, I thought it would be fun to do the wine trolley. They have never done it and never have I. I gave them the option of doing the regular wine trolley or the wine, beer, and spirits trolley and the chose the later which I was fine by me.

Like the ghost tour trolley that Stacy and I did earlier in the month, the wine, beer, and spirits trolley tour is offered by Door County Trolley. It was an all day event with us leaving at 10 AM and getting back around 3:00 PM with a stop at a winery, a brewery, and distillery along with lunch. We didn't know which winery, distillery, or brewer we were going to until we got on the trolley.  It cost each of us $85 with taxes and fees. 

Our first stop was Harbor Ridge winery. Since the winery is next to Wisconsin Cheese Masters we actually had a wine and cheese pairing outside. We sampled 4 wines, 3 of which was paired with cheese and the fourth a chocolate wine was paired with homemade toffee. It was delicious. 

After our tasting, we had time to explore the wine and cheese shop. We opted to come back to the cheese shop after the tour so we wouldn't have to carry cheese or wine with us all day. While at the wine shop, we opted to split a flight so we could try more wines. We tried Savvy Blonde,  What the Heck? Malbec!, Cherry Crush, and Moo-scato.  Nothing stood out as ooh buy me but they were all very good. The cherry crush was probably my favorite.

Our second stop was Door County Distillery where we tried four different cocktails made with liquors distilled on site. I was glad we had mini cocktails as I am not a fan of straight liquor. The old fashion was good. The Bloody Mary was spicy. The tropical cocktail definitely had a pineapple flavor. 

Like Harbor Ridge, we had time to explore the Distillery and winery after our tasting. Of course, we tasted more wine. We have been to Door Peninsula Winery many times before so this was just a fun tasting. I tried wines I normally don't go for since I really like fruity wines. I tried the cherry Mimosa (meh), White Chaos (definitely would buy), and Rose Soiree (not bad) among others. Jeanne did do a shot at the distillery. Cindy and I passed.

Our last stop was lunch and the brewery. We had lunch at Sonny's Italian Kitchen and Pizzeria. We had to place our orders before hand and it was ready when we got there. I had garbage pizza and just picked off the toppings I didn't like. Jeanne and Cindy split a salad and the Hot Nashville Sandwich. All were very good. We also had a good view of the harbor and ship docks. 

After lunch we went downstairs to Bottoms Up Brewery. We each got a pint glass of beer. None of the choice appealed to me and I picked a bad one. I barely drank any of it. That might had to do with how full from lunch we were and how much we've drank already. None of us really drank our beer.

It was a fun filled day with another great driver. We are talking about the during the Murder and Mayham tour next summer. If you have time in Door County, definitely check out a trolley tour. They are worth the money.
