Baseball Stadium Tour 2017 -- Oriole Park at Camden Yards

Back in February, I made a vacation plan for all the possible Babe Ruth Locations each with several options all centered around baseball games. So when the hubby got his bid to Glen Allen, VA I knew exactly what stadiums we could hit. The hubby was talking about hitting a minor league park in West Virginia or Maryland. I was like um.. the Orioles are in town. We can take the metro in. He agreed.

It was pretty easy getting to Oriole Park at Camden Yards. We picked up the train just outside of Baltimore and it dropped us off right by the park. Parking didn't seem to be plentiful around the stadium and we didn't have to deal with city traffic.

Oriole Park is celebrating it's 25th anniversary this year which was another good reason to. Like Boston, there is a street that runs along side the stadium (Eutaw Street) with restaurants and shops that are within the confines of the park. The main concourse is nice and wide with plenty of options for food, including seafood, and shops.

Just as we got inside the gates, the sky opened up and it poured buckets. Luckily the concourse was wide enough to hold all the people. It was a monsoon out there. The game was delayed maybe 45 minutes or so even with the monsoon.

We wandered during the rain trying to complete the scavenger hunt on the MLB app to get a commemorative Oriole Park picture. The scavenger hunt gave you a chance to explore the park and see some of its history and highlights. I love the MLB app as it allows me to track all the stadium I've been to and maybe even give me free stuff.

Like usual, we had nose bleed seats which gave a great view of the park. I can't complain too much though. The view was good and there were decent concessions up on the top level with plenty of room to walk around.

We left early and missed the best part of the game -- a grand slam at the bottom of the ninth to win it. However since we were staying with friends and we were tired from driving, leaving early was a good option.

Oriole Park at Camden Yards is probably tied as my favorite ball park along with Busch Stadium. They both focus on baseball and don't have all the between inning games like other parks do. Sure there was the crab shuffle and other score board entertainment between innings but no one had a chance to win anything. It was baseball like it should be... leave the gimmicks to the minor leagues.
