When we were planning girls weekend, Stacy mentioned we could check out Umbrella Alley in Elmhurst as something to do at night. After looking into it, I realized it may close the weekend prior to us going. If it was there great, if not oh real. We both saw the one in Neenah last summer.
Umbrella Sky Project started in Portugal and has since become an international art sensation. Elmhurst is the 6th city in the US to feature it. Umbrella Sky Project in Elmhurst started in 2023 and would update seasonally and annually for 3 years. Based on that information, 2025 may have been it's last year. Hopefully not.
There are 3 locations in Elmhurst for Umbrella Sky Project. Schiller Court, Cultural Campus, and North York Stage. We found the Schiller Court location near we were picked up donuts at.
Set in an alley way downtown, the umbrellas are string between the buildings so it looks like they are floating in the area. Schiller Court featured white, pink, and green umbrellas. I think the others featured other color umbrellas.
Even though we did not spend much time checking out the umbrellas, it was colorful way to start the morning.
If you ever get a chance to check out an Umbrella Sky Project, take the time to do so. It is just a fun, colorful way to brighten up a community. I wonder where I will stumble upon my next Umbrella Sky Installment.
