The crossword likes to use Nehi Soda as the answer to A classic soda or a classic grape soda. I thought it was just a '60s thing. I never actually saw Nehi Soda in real life. I don't even recall Pops having it either that or it wasn't on my radar either time I was to the Soda Giant. Then I stumbled across Peach Nehi Soda at Cracker Barrell and decided I needed to try it.
Nehi was first manufactured in 1924 and is now part of the Keurig/Dr. Pepper Company. Distribution is limited to specialty beverage shops, online, and a few grocery stores in areas where Nehi was once popular. It comes in caffeine-free flavors like Peach, Grape, and Orange. I only ever heard of Grape Nehi probably due to M*A*S*H.
Peach Nehi tasted just like peach J-Ello but carbonated. The strong peach flavor and the carbonation was weird combination. It was a little much for me. I think if it wasn't carbonated with would been amazing but then what is soda without carbonation?
Honestly I think I will stick with Twiggs and their Peach Cobbler when I'm in the mood for a peach soda. I'm glad I tried it but it was too bubbly for me.
