I don't remember where I first learned about the Leaning Tower of Niles but as soon as I did it went on the bucket list. I knew it will be a while before I get to Italy and visit the Leaning Tower of Pisa so I figured this was the next best thing.
When Stacy and I were planning girls' weekend, I knew that Leaning Tower of Niles was a going to be a high priority. After lots of shuffling of places around to make the most ideal itinerary, the Leaning Tower of Niles became our first stop.
The Leaning Tower of Niles was constructed in the 1930s to conceal a huge outdoor water tank that supplied water to the two outdoor pools in Ilgair Park. It is half the size replica of the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

It was a fun first stop. We did take a few pictures of trying to hold up the tower.
The area in front of the tower which does including a reflecting pool is open to the public. The tower is not currently open to the public. They are working on restoring it and making it safe to visit. Hopefully one day it will be open to the public again.
We also discovered mini Towers of Niles scattered around the city.. okay so we only found two but we are assuming there are more.
If you are ever in the Chicago Suburbs, you should check out the Leaning Tower of Niles. It is such a random stop that everyone should check out for prosperity sake.
