Baseball Stadium Tour 2017: Guarantee Rate Field

I playing around one night checking baseball schedules and realized that we could do Illinois/Wisconsin baseball trip Labor Day weekend since Kansas City was on the road. Our first stop would be the White Sox game in the afternoon. We wanted to try to get the Sox game this year anyways.

The hubby was a bit concerned about going to the Sox game due to the violence on Chicago's South Side. His buddy was advised him that there wasn't much parking and to park in the church parking lot. To ease the hubby's nerves, I asked my cousin if we could take the train to the game from the suburbs. She said parking wasn't a problem and she never had a problem. I'm not sure what Nubby was talking about because it was super easy to get to Guarantee Rate Field and parking was a breeze. Since it was family day it was only $10.

Guarantee Rate Field is a great for foodies. The food choices are amazing. The hubby had a churro for the first time. I swear there was a churro vendor every couple of sections. Personally I still like the churros from Costa Rica but they were still good. There was Italian Beef Sandwiches, deep dish pizza, and other typical Chicago fare. I would have had a hard time deciding but since we were all the way on the 500 level, our food choices were limited to your typical ball park fare. I did have a really good Italian sausage though.

Normally when we sit up high, we try to at least take the elevator up to the upper levels since the hubby has a fear of escalators. We walked up to check out our seats and was going to take the elevator down to explore the rest of the park but the person was very adamant that it was only for disabled people. However, the walk did give us a great view of downtown.

Besides being great for foodies, Guarantee Rate Field is a good ball park experience -- wide, airy concourses. There was plenty of history too. I personally liked the shower in left field. The hubby said one of those guys actually was in grandma's car.

Even though we were way upstairs, we had great seats. Sitting upstairs isn't bad and you get a great view of the park. The players might be smaller and you can't smell the dirt but you can still see the whole game. They even had a person throwing t-shirts up on the 500 level during the t-shirt toss. Usually the cheap seats are forgotten when it comes things like t-shirt tosses.

We've seen racing perogies, racing cars, and in Chicago racing old Sox players. Everyone got a card with one player on it when they came in and if that person won, you got a prize or something. The players we had lost so I don't remember the exact details.

It was a nice afternoon for baseball. I would just remember to wear the sunscreen next time. We will definitely be back to Guarantee Rate Field now that we now how easy it is to get to and it's much cheaper than going to the Cubs game.
