Exploring the Green Circle Trail in Stevens Point

The hubby had a baseball doubleheader in Stevens Point at Bukolt Park. Like usual, I tagged along and figured I'd get a walk in. I really wanted to walk to and explore the Sculpture Park but it was 1.9 miles there and 1.9 miles back plus the length of the trail. That is like an entire baseball game. I opted to explore around Bukolt Park figured I'd just walk city streets.

I actually ended up walking part of the Green Circle Trail. I walked the River Front Trail. The Green Circle Trail is a 27 mile loop trail throughout the city of Stevens Point and includes 10 different portions and links to other trails.

The River Front trail followed along the Wisconsin River it is about a mile from Bukolt Park to downtown. It is a nice portion of the trail.

I saw plenty of geese and ducks.

And a new mini park being constructed.

There were also some history about the area along the trail.

Later in the day, I tried to walk a portion of the Stagecoach trail but I lost the trail when it went onto a road. I turned around and headed back to baseball.

I would highly recommend explore the trails of the Green Circle if you are ever in Stevens Point. There are plenty of hidden gems along the way to explore as well.

Go to Festival of Spring at the Paine Art Center

My friend Kas texted me asking if I was going to that plant thing at the Paine in Oshkosh. I was like wasn't planning on and after looking at the Facebook event, I decided it looked neat. I told I would meet her down there around 11:30.

That plant thing was the Festival of Spring -- Plant Sale and Art Fair. It is exactly what the name describes -- a plant sale, art fair, and food trucks. We just bought the last plant we needed last night and I didn't need plants but I had nothing better to do and it is free.

Parking is limited at the Paine. You could pay $5 and park in the church next door or attempt to find street parking. I opted for the later. I ended up parking about 4-5 blocks away and I figured I could use the extra steps.

After meeting up with Kas and her family, we decided to grab lunch before looking at the plants and art. The food truck options were limited. You could have Chinese, Gyros, or Pizza. Everyone was having Chinese.. and so did we. We waited a good twenty minutes for our food after ordering. The crab ragoons had a bit too much cream cheese for my liking but there were still good.

The Boba drink was really good. It was the first time ever having a Boba drink and in the heat, the smoothie type drink was amazing. There was many flavors to chose from and I opted for raspberry as a safe bet.

By the time we finished eating, we checked out the plant sale. Unfortunately many of the plants were already gone. The concept was great but in the future, make sure you check out the plants before you eat. There are spots to hold your plants until you are ready to leave so you can enjoy the art fair, the art center, and gardens without having to lug around plans.

The art fair had a fair number of booths with many difficult types of crafts. I didn't buy anything. I couldn't find a new Badger sign like the one we have now. Kas picked up some tree charms. If I had a tree they would have been cool. The hubby probably would have rolled his eyes at me.

There were also musical performers.

We wandered some of the gardens. Not much in bloom yet. One day I maybe I will be able to see the gardens in bloom.

We were going to take advantage of the free admission to the Paine but not everyone had masks with them.

It was a really nice event. I would definitely go back but get there earlier to be able to check out the plants. It is a yearly event. My only compliant is that they need more food trucks.

4945. See the World’s Largest Hex Nut at Packer Fastener in Green Bay

On Pinterest, I saw a list of things to do in Green Bay and one of them was to see world's largest Hex Nut. Who comes up with these things? Why do we need a large Hex Nut on display? Since it is there, I might as well go see it. Build it and they will come.

The good news is you will literally almost run right into the Hex Nut if you take Lombardi Avenue east from Lambeau Field. We were headed back from Prismatica and I was like I have to see that thought as we were in the wrong lane trying to turn right. The nice brother that he is, my brother circled the block and went back so I could see the World's Largest Hex Nut.

Because it's a hex nut, it has metal ridges which are not very comfortable to sit on. So I stood instead.

It is not something I would go out of my way to see but since we literally drove right past it, I figured it was worth the stop for I could get my picture in a giant nut.

The list of giant objects continues to grow: round barn, corkscrew, fish, penny, hex nut. Maybe I will add wooden nickel and frying pan later this year. Stay tuned to find out if I did.

4946. Check out Prismatica in Green Bay

I saw an ad on Facebook for Prismetica in Green Bay. It was these giant prisms that made kaleidoscope like designs. It sounded really cool and I wanted to go. I asked Rick and Shannon if they wanted to go with me. We decided to meet for dinner and then go check out the prisms.

We got to Titletown District around 7:30. The prisms are best viewed after dark. We got there around 7:30 so not quite dusk. This is the problem with spring and summer. It stays light later which means later start times for after dark activities.

Because it wasn't dark, Prismatica did not wow me. We still were able to spin then and try to cast different shapes and designs. Some of them worked better than others. The faster you spun them, they better they worked.

Honestly we were not impressed. I think if it was dark out they were would have been way cooler. We spent about 15-20 minutes trying out different prisms.

Prismetica runs through the end of the month at Titletown District in Green Bay. It was free. Besides Prismetica there's live music on Fridays, bocce ball, shuffleboard, and plus a whole playground for the kids. It would make a fun evening out with the family.
