26 in 2026 -- Visit a New Indie Bookstore -- Lion's Mouth Bookstore

 One of the stops on the Cafe Crawl this year was Lion's Mouth Bookstore. I was excited to visit a new bookstore and find a book for vacation.

Lion's Mouth Bookstore is located downtown Green Bay on Washington St. There is street parking or parking ramps nearby. It is open Monday-Friday 9-6, 9-5 on Saturdays, and 10-4 on Sundays. 

Lion's Mouth Bookstore is not a large bookstore but they have plenty of books to choose from. For a small indie bookstore, I was impressed by the selection. I found several books I wanted to buy and Heather found several as well. 

There is also a coffee shop inside where you can get a tasty beverage while you browse. They were giving out coffee and tea samples on the cafe crawl. 

Heather was happy to see they had a book goblin. She had to send me a video explaining the book goblin to me but I am definitely Team Book Goblin. 

I may have found a new favorite Indie bookstore. Their selection is great and it has beverages. And it's closer than Fair Isle Books.

25 in 2025 -- Visit a new Indie Bookstore -- The Village Booksmith

 Since I had plenty of time to kill while exploring the Dells, I decided to see if I could find an Independent (Indie) Bookstore to check out since I did not get to a new one yet this year. It turns out the only Indie bookstore in the Dells area was in Baraboo and it was a used bookstore. Since I was going to the zoo in Baraboo, I figured I might as well check out the bookstore.

The Village Booksmith is located downtown Baraboo. It is open daily: 10-6 Mon-Fri, 10-4 on Saturdays and 11-3 on Sundays. Summer hours might differ. There is plenty of street parking in winter around the square. Summer might be more difficult to find a parking spot. 

The Village Booksmith is not a large bookstore but it is crammed full of used and some new books. There is a dedicated children's section.

You can find all the different genres throughout the store. I particularly liked the "Brew Crew" section within the sports section.

As with any used bookstore, you never know what you are going to find. I wandered around trying to find something I have not read. I was going to pick up a Debbie Macomber book but then I saw some local mysteries by a local author. They were autographed and it fit my rules of I can only buy autograph copies to keep. It looks intriguing. 

If I had more time to kill, I could always have taken my new book and curled up on one of the many seating areas around the store to read. They looked very comfy.

The Village Booksmth is a charming store. If you are in need of a book while on vacation in the Dells, take the short drive into Baraboo and pick one up. 

6119. Go to Inklings Used Books in Sheboygan

 Andrea knows of my crazy list of doing certain things in every county in Wisconsin and every state. One of those things is visit a bookstore. We have driven by the bookstore in Sheboygan many times and finally decided to stop.

Inklings Used Books is located near Blue Harbor Resort on the shores of Lake Michigan. It is the road from Eb Flo Coffeehouse. It definitely has a beach town look to it. Inklings is open 11-4 Wednesday-Sunday. 

Inklings is in a former house that shares its space with another business. It is bigger than it looks. There are two rooms full of books.

Despite it is size, they had a good selection of books with many popular authors and books. It kind of reminded me of browsing a library. You never know what you are going to find. I did pick up a Judy Blume book and one other book. 

I do like that it is on the smaller size. The Book Store in Appleton is much larger and seems very overwhelming at times. This is perfect since the selection is smaller but definitely still a lot of books. I would definitely go back.
