1836. Go to the College Football Hall of Fame

Initially when I was looking at things to do in Atlanta, I skipped over the College Football Hall of Fame. We've been to the NCAA Hall of Champions in Indy and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton. I knew the hubby would like it but the price of admission was holding me back. It was $22 a person. However, I stumbled across a Groupon where we got parking and 2 admission for $36. Okay, so we weren't gonna use the parking and we still saved $6.

I should have wait to get tickets until the day of. The entire month of August, if you downloaded the Chick-Fil-A app, you got free admission to the Hall of Fame. Hmm.. download an app I might use since Chick-Fil-A was coming to Appleton and I get in free. Dang so much for thinking my $36 Groupon was a good deal. The guy was like you can save your Groupon and I was like um, we're only in town today. 

Everyone is given an access pass as their ticket. You are supposed to be able to register your access pass and then have the interactive displays be geared towards the school you picked. However, we couldn't get it to work at the one display we tried. I picked Carroll and the hubby went with Wisconsin. I was pleasantly surprised to see Carroll listed but apparently one of their coaches in the Hall.

Most of the museum is very interactive. There is a whole display area geared towards tailgating and pregame activities. 

Another section talked about rivalries in the game. I got to see one of the Paul Bunyan Axes. 

Up on the third floor was all different trophies including the DII and DIII championship trophies. There is also the actual hall of fame which is just clear glass with the names etched into it for each year.

On our way out we stopped at the Indoor Playing field where both the hubby and I attempted to kick field goals. The hubby's went wide right. Mine had the distance and the straightness but no height. Alas we were not meant to be kickers. 

I am glad we checked it out. To be honest, we probably would have ended up here anyways as we had more time than we knew what to do with in the afternoon. Kids and teens would love the indoor playing field. It is very well done. If you are a football fan and in Atlanta, check it out.

941. Go to the Coca-Cola Museum

When I found out we were headed to Alabama, my one request for Atlanta was the World of Coke. The hubby agreed as long as we didn't have to deal with driving in Atlanta.

Getting to the World of Coca-Cola wasn't too difficult... if you can read a map. We took the train in from the last western stop on the blue line. It let us off at the basketball arena. If we turned left, instead of right, it was a short walk to the museum through Olympic Park. We turned right and walked all the way around the building... Me and my great map skills.

The World of Coca-Cola is a museum dedicated to the history of Coca-Cola. It was $14/adult to visit. It is best to get them ahead of time so you don't have to wait in the ticket line... which at times can rival any major theme park. You can also get them online on your phone instead of standing in line. By getting our tickets ahead of time, allowed us to go right to the security line and inside. Word to the wise... they still may be a wait to go through security and in the actual museum as they only allow so many people inside the theater for the welcome movie at a time.

While we were waiting in line to be allowed in the theater, we got free mini cans of ice cold Coca-Cola. I'm not a big Coke Classic fan but it was very refreshing. There was Diet Coke too. The movie was really one big advertisement for Coca-Cola. It showed how Coca-Cola brought people together. My favorite was the German one with the gingerbread heart.. I was like I had one of those. The hubby was oblivious to it. All around the theater were old signs and other collectibles.

After the movie, we were on own to explore the museum. It was crowded. We really didn't get to peruse the first couple exhibits that much because EVERYONE was there. What we did see was cool. A lot of memorabilia. There was a quick history of Coca-Cola complete with a pharmacy display.

The coolest part was holding the Olympic Torch. They had several different torches in a case. There were also employees standing in corridors, with a torch. You could actually hold an Olympic Torch. It will probably the only time I'm that close to an Olympic torch.

The polar bear mascot was arriving as we were heading upstairs.

Up on the third floor is a 4-D Movie Theater. We did not partake in the 4-D movie. There is also the tasting room where you can taste flavors from all over the world. The tasting room is very crowded and you kind of have to squeeze your way in at times. Each part of the world has it's only station with several soda machines all with the same sodas. We tried several different sodas from around the world. The Melon Frosty for Thailand was pretty good along with the Bibo from South Africa. We did not try them all.

Once you are finished tasting you exit through the gift shop and you can't get back in the museum. As we were leaving we were handed New Coke cans. Throwback to the 80s.

Overall it is a great museum. It is definitely worth checking out when in Atlanta especially if you only have a few hours.
