When I saw there was a Moon Pie Store in Pigeon Forge and it included a bookstore, I had knew we had to check it out. I wanted to try a moon pie and I never pass up an opportunity to check out a bookstore. The hubby was actually on board with this one.
The Moon Pie General Store and Original Book Warehouse is located on the Parkway in Pigeon Forge. It has a decent size parking lot. It is open 9-10 Sun-Thu and 9-11 Fridays and Saturdays.
We first checked out the book store. It has an assortment of books on various topics including several on the Smokey Mountains and National Parks. It also has a good selection of children's books and fiction books. My favorite section was the sale section where I picked up a Sheila Roberts book I didn't read. It was a challenge finding an interesting book I didn't read. I can now add Tennessee as one of the (few) states I've been to a bookstore. Hopefully I can add to it this summer.
The Moon Pie General Store is exactly what it sound like a General Store with Moon Pies. It has a little bit of everything.. toys, games, gifts, and of course Moon Pies.
We each picked out a Moon Pie and a mini moon pie. We opted not to get the RC Cola to go with it. I am not a huge fan of RC Cola and didn't quite get the Southern tradition of drinking RC Cola with Moon Pies. Stay tune to see how we like these traditional southern treats.
If you are in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge it is definitely worth checking out. You buy a regular Moon Pie and you get a mini one free. It was a great place to start our morning since it was open early.
