When we started planning our trip to Arizona this year, the hubby said he wanted to see the London Bridge. I wanted to see the wild donkeys in Oatman. I figured we can always see the donkeys and opted to go to Lake Havasu City to see the London Bridge.
Yes, it is the actual London Bridge that once spanned the Thames River. When it needed to be replaced, a man built and shipped the bricks back over to Lake Havasu City, AZ. The original London Bridge is really in Arizona.
You can drive over the bridge. It is actually spans park of Lake Havasu and the Colorado River that takes you from the main section of town to the island.
From the island side, it is not really easy to get good views of the bridge unless you in the water. We tried from several different spots and really couldn't get a good view.
After lunch, we found a spot near the casino that allowed for a better view of the bridge even if it was through a chain link fence. I am sure if I did a little more research I would have found the perfect spot for viewing the bridge.
Even though the hubby wanted to see the bridge, he didn't really seem to care if we got a good picture of it. He was more interested in Lake Havasu itself. I have to admit it is a nice lake and a big touristy spot. It really is the only thing out there though.
We drove 3+ hours to see an old bridge. It was cool but not that impressive. If you are in the area great go check it out but there are better things to do within two hours of Las Vegas.
