For years I've said I was going to see The Nutcracker. I have vague recollections of seeing a high school friend performing the ballet with her local ballet school. I always wanted to see The Nutcracker at the PAC in Milwaukee. Then I moved to the Fox Valley and that kind went out the window for a many years. I started wanting to do that for the last couple of years. When Andrea asked if I wanted to see The Nutcracker in Sheboygan, I was hesitant afraid it was another ballet school performance. I thought it said World Tour so I was decided to go. Then about a week before the performance I saw that it was another dance school performance. Andrea reassured me that it was a really well done performance.
The Nutcracker was at Weil Center For the Performing Arts in downtown Sheboygan. It is an old move theater that has been renovated.
It is very ornate inside. It really did feel like being at the theater. There was a grand staircase that made for some fun pictures. Andrea told me the balcony was scary and we didn't venture up there.
We had seats left center. They were very good seats. I had a little understanding of the story of The Nutcracker. The narrator along with the program filled in the gap.
Brittany's School of Dance put on a wonderful, professional show. Even though you knew these were students, you could tell they were very well trained. Sure they were a few missteps and slips but they told the entire story. The dancing was beautiful.
I am glad that I trusted Andrea and went to The Nutcracker. Even though I didn't get to fulfil the my dream of seeing it at the PAC, this was a very good performance and I would recommend it to anyone. Seeing it at the PAC is now #5415 on the bucket list. I will get there one day.
